Wow! July 2, 2011 was a warm sunny day, which was perfect weather for a couple that was more than excited for their special day! (p.s. and there’s something extra special about a groom who sheds a tear during the ceremony–knight in shining armor, Kirsten? I think so
).
From the ceremony at Edmonton Moravian Church, to the formal photos at Emily Murphy Park, to the reception at Red Tailing Landing golf and country club, Shawn and I were overjoyed to be part of Josh and Kirsten’s wedding day. I’ve known Kirsten for a few years, and she’s most definitely a sweetheart, and her groom was so easy going and fun from the moment we met him.
We are so happy to have the two of you as friends, and we wish you to best in your life together!
Let us know if you ever make a trip from Calgary to the Okanagan–we’d love to hang out!

We felt so privileged that we were chosen to capture Joseph and Erin’s winter engagement photos and June wedding. Joe is a long-time friend of ours, and we were excited to see him marrying a beautiful girl like Erin. Joe and Erin were neighbors when they were young children. It’s amazing to see photos of Joe and Erin playing together as kids, and then years later seeing photos of these childhood friends becoming life partners! What a great story!
Thanks for sharing your family and friends with us on your special day, and for entrusting us with capturing your wedding memories. We look forward to seeing you soon

Shawn and I are living in Penticton, BC, but we still shoot photos in Alberta! This wedding was in Edmonton/St. Albert at the beginning of June. What a privilege to witness the coming together of a couple who truly displays their love for one another! After the preparations and ceremony, we headed to a farm in the Busby area for family photos. For some more creative shooting, we used some old farm buildings on the outskirts of St. Albert, as well as beautiful Red Willow Park.
Thanks for a great day, Layne and Lauren–it has been a privilege getting to know you, and thank you for trusting us to capture your wedding photos!

This was our second photo session with the Corbetts. Shawn and I always have a blast when we get together with the Corbetts! Stacey always comes up with great ideas for her family photos–pumpkins last time and a winter scene this time (and Oliver always wears the best hats!). This photo session was shot at Red Willow Park in St. Albert, Alberta. My favorite photos are from the end of the session when without hesitation, Chris started a snow war (note the snow in his ear in the kissing shot).
Thanks for the good times, and we look forward to our next session–maybe we can do an Okanagan scene for you next time

What a journey we’ve been on with Alexander and his parents (who we’ve know since we shot their engagement photos in the winter of 2009)! We had the privilege of capturing each of baby Alexander’s first year milestones. Thanks, Anastasia and Adam, for being great friends, and for trusting up with so many of your moments, from your engagement, to your wedding, to the birth of your first baby. We truly hope you enjoy perusing through Alexander’s first year album. We hope to see you soon, either out here in the Okanagan, or the next time we’re in the Edmonton area!

Patrick and Krystle were married in late-September–the perfect time to capture beautiful fall photos! We started shooting Krystle getting ready at the Matrix Hotel in downtown Edmonton, and finished the preparations with Patrick at his parent’s house in west Edmonton. Patrick is a firefighter with the city of Edmonton, and he wore his uniform for the pre-wedding and ceremony portions of the day. The ceremony was at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Callingwood, and we used the outside gardens for the family photos location. Patrick and Krystle had an early-afternoon ceremony, which gave us a lot of time to use different locations for their formal photos! We used the University of Alberta, Emily Murphy Park, and an amazing North Saskatchewan river/downtown Edmonton look-out-point near their reception location–the Old Timer’s Cabin–for the formals/bride and groom portraits.
Thank-you, Patrick and Krystle, for a great day! We had a great time getting to know you, and your super fun and easy-going bridal party. Your photo slideshow made me (Melanie) cry
–you’ve had some great moments together in the past, and you have many more to come! I can’t wait to see the finished product of your Finao One flush mount album, and I’m excited about your unique two-tone leather cover choice! Take care and we hope you had a great honeymoon in Maui!

Shawn and I had never been to Smoky Lake, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Much to our surprise, the small town of Smoky Lake, Alberta was busier than busy because of it’s yearly “Pumpkin Festival.” What a fun time…I’d recommend checking it out for next year (especially if you have kids). After we drove through town, we met the Richards family at their acreage just outside of Smoky Lake…What an amazing view of the valley as we drove up their long driveway–BEAUTIFUL! We had a great time capturing Andrew, Kari, their 4 children, and their 2 labs using locations on their acreage–I love locations that have meaning for our families, and where children feel like they can be themselves!
Enjoy your photos, and especially enjoy your family wall print!

I was pleased to capture photos of the Jordan family again this past fall–Kevin, Jennifer, Sam, and Charlie. It’s so fun to see the changes in the Jordan boys each year. The last time we met, Charlie wasn’t walking yet, and this year he was so far from the baby I captured in his newborn photos! The first time I met Sam, he was 2-years-old, and Jennifer was just expecting Charlie (and she was looking FABulous, of course).
What a great spot, with great late-day lighting, and beautiful fall colors. Enjoy your photos, and thanks for making us your “photographers for life”–it’s been a privilege thus far!!

Shawn and I met Chad and Amanda in August to book their August 2011 wedding…This couple was so easy-going right off the bat, and their fun personalities and modern look made me REALLY want to shoot their engagement session in an urban location–and now to run the idea past them:) I LOVE to mix things up and do something completely different for a couple’s engagement session, compared to what we decide upon for their wedding formals. (and we don’t have to always shoot photos at “the Legislature”–although it’s a great spot, there are so many more opportunities to do something different–that’s MY two-cents)
Thanks again for the fun times, and the chat at Starbucks afterwards. We already consider you friends, and we can’t WAIT to meet up to discuss wedding details, and of course, to capture your big day!
